Streets of Rage 3 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up released by Sega in 1994 for the Sega Genesis. It is the third installment in the original trilogy and is known for being the most complex and challenging entry in the series.

Gameplay Features

·        Characters: Playable characters include returning favorites Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and Eddie "Skate" Hunter, along with a new cyborg character, Dr. Gilbert Zan. Unlockable secret characters like Roo (a kangaroo) and Shiva are also available.

·        Refined Combat: Characters can now run and perform vertical dodges/rolls. A new special move power bar allows players to perform special attacks without losing health, provided the meter is full.

·        Weapon Specialization: Certain characters have unique moves when using specific weapons, such as Skate's specialized attacks with a knife.

·        Multiple Endings: The game features four distinct endings that depend on the chosen difficulty level and how quickly players complete certain stages.

Storyline

In the English version, the nefarious Mr. X and his Syndicate have kidnapped the Chief of Police and replaced him with a robotic double. They have also planted bombs across the city to distract the police while they attempt to take control via a robotic coup. The heroes, tipped off by the whistleblower Dr. Zan, must fight through the city to stop the Syndicate and defeat Mr. X's army of androids.

Production & Legacy

·        Soundtrack: The game features a polarizing but highly technical electronic and techno-focused soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima.

·        Regional Differences: The Western release, Streets of Rage 3, is significantly more difficult than the Japanese version, Bare Knuckle III. It also features major changes to character colors, dialogue, and even the removal of a boss character named Ash.
