It is most famous for being a Blockbuster Video rental exclusive in North America, meaning it was never sold at standard retail stores. Because of this limited distribution, it is considered one of the rarest and most valuable games for the console.

The game retains the stop-motion "claymation" style and parody humor of the original but introduces several specific updates:
- Expanded Roster: Includes four additional characters originally cut from 63⅓:
- High Five: A giant sentient hand.
- Lady Liberty: A living Statue of Liberty who uses her torch as a flamethrower.
- Lockjaw Pooch: A fierce junkyard dog.
- Zappa Yow Yow Boyz: Three stacked pygmy brothers.
- Gameplay Changes: The combat system was simplified, notably removing the Killer Instinct-style "Insane Combos" and combo breakers. It also added new character moves and a revised "rival-based" story mode.
- Visual and Audio Polish: Features a new CGI intro sequence with a vocal theme song, more professional menu designs, and an improved camera angle that provides a better view of the environments.
